On April 10, 2008, the US Mint and country music star Dolly Parton joined the American Eagle Foundation to help release a baby eagle back into the wild. The release takes place as the Mint continues to offer coins from the popular Bald Eagle Commemorative Series.
The Coin Series is intended to commemorate three things:
Coins available include a $5 Gold Bald Eagle Coin, $1 Silver Bald Eagle Coin, and 50c Clad Half Dollar Bald Eagle Coin.
The event took place at Douglas Lake, Tennessee located at the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains. The United States was represented by Gloria Eskridge, Associate Director for Sales and Marketing. The American Eagle Foundation was represented by Al Cecere, Founder and President of the American Eagle Foundation.
